“ Nice eclectic restaurant, food was good, service was friendly and efficient . Noisy due to size of the restaurant every inch is being utilized. In the area? It's worth a visit for a quick reasonably priced meal ”

“ Been coming here since the late 90's and surprised I have not written a review. Came here for my oldest niece's birthday on Monday (01/20/25) around 1130a, it was not to crowded yet but it surely did as time went on especially since it was a MLK holiday. I forgot to take pictures from this visit but we all got the following: Loaded pierogies appetizer, cup of their chili, French dip, Buffalo shrimp sub, London Broil pita and the Spotswood melt. Some of us also got their onion rings as our side. Their pierogies are one of my faves and were loaded with cheese, bacon, scallions and sour cream they were filled with potato goodness. I was splitting the French dip with my sister but ended up eating half of the buffalo shrimp sub which was really tasty and the sub roll it was on was so soft! The onion rings were fried to perfection and that chipotle ranch sauce is the perfect compliment. Everyone enjoyed their food and service was awesome as I have always remembered. I will be back. ”

“ I love the chili from here it always warms me to the soul. I don't have any pictures because I basically inhaled it and so did my coworkers. The staff here is always accommodating and friendly. I don't think I've ever had bad service here. Would definitely recommend the chili on a cold Norfolk Day like today when the weather is just rude and disrespectful like it is now at 28 degrees and windy. ”

“ Went out with some friends for dinner before we went to a comedy show. I have never been here before, but it was delicious. It was busy but we were able to snatch a booth which was nice. The place was cozy and everytime I saw a waiter bringing food...the food looked delicious. The bathrooms were clean. I got the meatloaf and the holiday drink and my husband got the ribs. It was all some good. They have some pretty good coleslaw. I particular about my coleslaw. The meatloaf was really good, and I loved the beer battered onion rings. I'm a sucker for those. ”

“ Team lunch here and it was great. Nice atmosphere. I did know it was back in that neighborhood. Service was fast and impeccable. I had the salmon, shrimp and grits. I don't eat grits so I got rice. I know who orders a grits dish and doesn't eat grits....ME! The salmon was cooked to perfection. Delicious. The shrimp and sausage were good as well. I thought it needed a little more sausage but the salmon made up for anything it was lacking in. The only negative was the table we were seated at. It was broken like a sea saw. One side up and one side down but it didn't fall. All in all if I could give a 4.5 I would. Keep up the good work and great food. ”

“ We tried this place for the first time FINALLY after many people had recommended. We were immediately seated in the dining room by the hostess who was pleasant. Our server greeted us and got our drink order minutes after being seated. Our food was DELICIOUS!! I ordered the spotwood melt (basically a patty melt) with onion rings. My partner got the phili cheesesteak & broccoli cheddar soup. The patty melt was cooked to perfection, huge, and full of flavor. The cheesesteak had great seasoning. The broccoli cheddar soup was also so good!! It came with this seasoned pita bread which was delicious. My onion rings were just out of this world! Perfectly fried, you can tell that they were hand battered and not previously frozen ones. Overall just a great experience- we would eat here again!!! ”

“ I absolutely love fried shrimp but I don't get it very often. We decided to visit No Frill Bar and Grill just off Colley Avenue in the Ghent section of Norfolk. Don't be fooled by the exterior of this place, it's definitely a hidden gem. We were able to score a couple of seats at the bar and we chatted with Lauren, the bubbly bartender. She's so pleasant to talk to. Comfort food was definitely on the horizon for us both tonight and they didn't disappoint. I had the Fried Shrimp Platter served with Crinkle Cut French Fries and Coleslaw. The coleslaw was fresh, delicious, and seasoned perfectly. The Fries are both meaty, crispy as well as fried to a beautiful golden brown. The star of the show was the Fried Shrimp. They butterflied them before breading and deep frying. They were perfectly cooked and amazing. I really enjoyed this dish and all of the components. My Wife had the meatloaf, served with green beans and redskin mashers. The green beans were perfectly cooked, slightly crispy and perfectly seasoned. The mashers were seasoned well, creamy and delicious but slightly chunky, which was a nice touch. The meatloaf was amazing but it is a large portion, so we were able to bring some home for Lunch the next day. If you love comfort food, as I do, check out No Frill Bar and Grill, you'll be happy you did and you can rest assured that you are supported our local restaurant community! ”

“ I went here for lunch on a Wednesday and there was a small wait. Staff were very nice and sat everyone pretty quickly. I got the turkey flatbread with fries. There was a lot of meat in the sandwich and the fries were seasoned perfectly. Very large portions and I would definitely come back! ”
